About

poverty in honduras

We believe God has lead us on a never ending journey to gain an understanding of His heart for the poor and needy.  We have been traveling to Honduras and Haiti for the last 6 years and have seen the devastation and strife. We have also seen extreme poverty first hand, and the people affected. We feel compelled by our relationship with Jesus Christ and His Word to invest time and resources to help the poor and needy. For us Honduras holds a special place however, it is our mission to set out plans that can enrich and empower people from all developing markets and countries.

One of the greatest gifts we can give an impoverished people is the gift of entrepreneurship. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; show him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Education is the key to lifting people above extreme poverty in our world. The current worldwide system to alleviate poverty is decades old, broken, and based on dependency and aid. Aid is helpful when there is a catastrophic event like an earthquake but shortly after the event is over the aid needs to stop so local entrepreneurs and business owners can get their businesses going again and provide for the local needs. If the aid keeps coming, as it has been for many decades, entrepreneurs and business owners cannot compete with free so they go out of business and it creates more dependency. The long term solution to poverty eradication is education to develop people and businesses so people can work, build self worth and dignity so they can care for themselves, their families, and their community.
